Lakin Rose have appointed Derek Smith as a non-executive director who will chair their board. He will provide strategic advice to Lakin Rose’s directors and senior management team on an ongoing basis.
Having graduated in Accountancy, Derek trained with Coopers & Lybrand in London and qualified in 1972. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accounts and the Institute of Management Consultants
Derek has considerable experience of dealing at a very senior level with the business and management issues confronting organisations both nationally and internationally. He is recognised as an able implementer of change and has frequently been asked to present on the issues involved to senior executives in commerce and the professions in both the U.K. and overseas. He has presented at conferences around the UK and in Canada, North America, Sri Lanka, Singapore and most European countries.
Derek’s previous role as managing partner of a top 10 accounting practice coupled with his experience as chairman and chief executive of an IFA business have set him in good stead to provide advice.
He has hands-on practice management experience and has held senior leadership and managerial roles within leading UK accountancy practices and international firms..
