Role Overview:
We are seeking a qualified ACA or ACCA accountant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and ambitious individual to build on their training experience and take the next step in their career. You will be responsible for preparing year-end accounts and management accounts for a diverse portfolio of clients, as well as assisting with tax compliance and providing financial insight to support client decision-making. The role offers significant development potential towards future management responsibilities.
Key responsibilities:
Client Work & Assignments:
- Prepare statutory financial statements for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders.
- Produce accurate and timely management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
- Prepare corporation tax computations and assist with personal tax returns.
- Prepare and review VAT returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current regulations.
- Support clients with bookkeeping, accounting system queries, and process improvements.
- Liaise with clients to gather information and resolve queries efficiently.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow analysis where required.
- Ensure all assignments are completed to a high standard, within deadlines and budgets.
Training & Development:
- Work closely with directors and managers, gaining exposure to a wide range of clients and industries.
- Supervise and support trainees where appropriate, reviewing their work and providing constructive feedback.
- Take an active role in your own professional development and contribute to team learning.
Key Requirements:
- ACA or ACCA qualified (newly qualified or up to 3 years post qualification experience).
- Experience within an accountancy practice, particularly in accounts preparation, management accounts, and VAT compliance.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (FRS 102 and FRS 105).
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with the ability to build positive client relationships.
- Organised and able to manage multiple assignments to meet deadlines.
