Deciding what you might want to do in the future isn’t easy, particularly when you haven’t yet had the opportunity to experience a professional workplace.
At Lakin Rose, we offer work experience to students and young people who would like to learn more about accountancy and what working in a professional firm is really like.
During your time with us, you’ll meet members of our team, learn about the different services we provide and gain an insight into the day-to-day work of an accountant. You’ll also have the opportunity to see the variety of roles available and the different routes into the profession.
You don’t need any previous accountancy experience. We’re looking for people who are curious, willing to learn and prepared to get involved.

| Why did you choose to do work experience at Lakin Rose? “I had just graduated from university and wasn’t sure which industry I wanted to go into, so I came to Lakin Rose to find out what working in accountancy was like.” What did you find most useful? “It was useful to find out what was involved in the day-to-day work of an accountant. I also enjoyed seeing how friendly and knowledgeable everyone at Lakin Rose was.” Carmelle said the experience showed her that accountancy offered far more variety than she had previously realised. She subsequently applied to Lakin Rose because she liked the welcoming atmosphere and the close-knit nature of the firm. |
Why did you choose to do work experience at Lakin Rose? “I came across Lakin Rose at an accountancy session run by First Intuition. I met Natalie Peacock, who explained that Lakin Rose was a more personal firm where relationships with the people you work with are important. That encouraged me to ask about work experience”. What did you find most useful? “The experience gave me an important insight into different areas of accounting. It helped me understand which areas I might enjoy and gave me a better idea of where I may want my career to progress in the future.” Before joining us for work experience, Charlie had expected accountancy to be a rather formal environment. Meeting the team and experiencing the atmosphere in the office changed that perception. The people, supportive environment and genuine connections he made were important factors in his decision to apply for a role at Lakin Rose. |
